Groveport, Ohio-based Komar Industries, a designer and manufacturer of waste and recycling processing solutions, has acquired Metro Compactor Service Inc., BaleForce Recycling Equipment Inc. and Chute Source LLC—collectively Metro. The acquisition aims to bring together two market leaders to create a unified North American platform.
According to Komar, the combined organization aligns Komar’s equipment manufacturing and service in the U.S. with Metro’s role as a service leader and established original equipment manufacturer in Canada.
“Integrating Metro into the Komar platform will create powerful synergies leading to an enhanced product and service offering combined with an improved experience for our customers, particularly within the Canadian market and North American multitenant residential sectors,” Mark Koenig, president and CEO of Komar, says. “Pairing our worldclass equipment with Metro’s advancements in [internet of things (IoT)] further solidifies Komar’s comprehensive suite of products and service infrastructure.”
Based in Brampton, Ontario, with an office in Vancouver, Metro Compactor Service offers commercial/industrial, residential/high-rise and refurbished equipment, including compactors, balers, containers and garbage chutes. The company also provides rental equipment and residential and commercial power washing services.
“Metro has built its business around reliability, service excellence and supporting customers throughout the entire lifecycle of their equipment. These values are shared by both organizations,” Andrew Strudwicke, president of Metro, says. “By combining our equipment, service, rental and iSmart monitoring platform with Komar’s broad equipment portfolio, supply chain strength and operational scale, we can deliver more comprehensive solutions that improve uptime, extend asset life and reduce total cost of ownership for our customers.”
Together, the companies will operate the largest network of in-house service technicians in North America and expect to perform more than 90,000 service calls annually.
“Metro adds an extremely skilled team with knowledge in using the highest level of asset management technologies, software and integrated service to the Komar platform,” Danny Mauti, Metro majority owner, says. “This transaction allows us to combine our shared vision of becoming North America’s best-in-class waste and recycling solutions provider while delivering unrivalled equipment, service and IoT support to our customers.”
