Kodiak Introduces Metal-Miner Separation System

New product features piston-operated diverters designed for the recovery of stainless steel and other metals.

Kodiak Group, a Grayling, Mich.-based engineering and equipment company, has announced that its Metal-Miner separation system is now available to the recycling industry. According to the company, the Metal-Miner uses piston-actuated diverters to sort and separate metals from an eddy current’s discharge waste stream.

The new separation system initiates with an inlet feeder to spread out the material over the full width of the vulcanized belt, the company says. An array of high-speed sensors then communicates with the diverters downstream to separate the desired materials.

The diverters are formed from a robust wear-resistant material resulting in extended service life and, when necessary, each of the diverters are individually removable and easy to service, according to Kodiak. The company adds that the diverters are among the most powerful on the market, ensuring the removal of even the largest pieces.

Kodiak says it has positioned the entire diverter array opposite of the conveyor head pulley to keep it completely clear of the material trajectory. The diverters actuate to divert detected metals counter flow, and then retract out of the material flow in fractions of a second.

Kodiak’s Metal-Miner systems are available in a variety of widths to accommodate the needs of various operations.
