Kitchen remodeling firm partners with Pratt in recycling effort

Kitchen Magic, a family-owned kitchen remodeling company headquartered in Nazareth, Pennsylvania, has partnered with Pratt Recycling, a division of Conyers, Georgia-based Pratt Industries, in a zero-waste-to-landfill initiative to recycle old corrugated containers (OCC) from job sites.

In the 30 days since partnering with Pratt, Kitchen Magic says it has diverted more than 2,000 pounds of corrugated cardboard from landfills and has instituted a sustainability practice that requires collecting all packing materials from 100 percent of its remodeling projects.

“Everything we do in our work and life can come down to sustainability,” Kitchen Magic Production Manager Sandi Hanrahan says. “It’s just a matter of thought and effort.”

According to Pratt, its “Close the Loop” program requires all participating communities and companies to undergo waste assessment and staff training, as well as requiring all collected cardboard to be 100-percent recyclable.

Kitchen Magic says its environmental stewardship is an ongoing mission to continually find or create an eco-friendly impact, and adds that recycling is one of the cornerstones of its close-the-loop process and sustainability efforts.

“We were impressed with Pratt as they provide a link in the sustainability chain,” Hanrahan says. “Paper collected produces 100-percent-recycled containerboard and packaging solutions.”
