Keywell LLC announced that as a step to reduce its costs and focus on its domestic core business it is closing its Elizabeth, N.J., office. The closing is effective June 1.
According to Mark Lozier, president and CEO of Keywell, over the past several years the office operations have been reduced to trading activities with the company’s regional receiving and processing facilities being relocated to Fairless Hills, Pa.
Barry Hunter, senior vice president of Keywell, who opened the office 15 years ago, will leave the company when the office is closed. Hunter, who currently is president of the Bureau of International Recycling, will remain in his position with the international recycling association.
The company, headquartered in Chicago, specializes in handling stainless steel scrap and specialty alloy metals. The company will continue to have nine processing facilities in the United States, as well as an affiliate in Europe. The company also will have one trading office still in operation.
