Kevin Gershowitz Named Among “40 Under 40”

Long Island Business News has selected Kevin Gershowitz, executive vice president of Gershow Recycling Corp., Medford, N.Y., for recognition during its annual awards ceremony honoring Long Islanders who are younger than 40 and have made significant contributions to the city.

Gershowitz oversees the daily operations of the family-owned company, which was founded by his father in 1964.

 

“I am honored to be selected by the Long Island Business News and to share this recognition with my family and the many employees of Gershow Recycling who make each workday productive and enjoyable for me,” Gershowitz says.

 

He is active in several professional organizations, serving as first vice president for the Institute of Scrap Recycling Industries New York Chapter and as vice president for Empire Metal Merchants. As a member of the Long Island Mid-Suffolk Business Association and the Long Island Association, Gershowitz is actively involved with the region’s business community as well as issues concerning the economy and quality of life in the region.

 

Spearheading Gershow Recycling’s community efforts, he launched the Gershow Recycling Scholarship Program, which grants six scholarships per year to seniors graduating from local public high schools.

 

John Komenicki, publisher of Long Island Business News, a prestigious regional weekly publication of the Dolan Media Co., presented the “40 Under 40” awardees with plaques during an awards breakfast Feb. 2. The keynote speaker was George Ross, executive vice president of the Trump Organization.
