APWA says it selected KCI based on the firm’s wide array of successful projects in 2016 and active participation of its staff in industry associations. The award was announced and presented at the APWA Expo event held in Tallahassee, Florida.
KCI President Mitch Kessler says, “The Consultant of the Year award is a tremendous honor and all of us at KCI work hard every day to advance our clients’ objectives and the solid waste industry. Being recognized by the APWA speaks to the partnerships we are fortunate to have with our clients.”
Among the major projects completed by KCI in 2016 include the completion of the Emerald Coast Utilities Authority’s (ECUA’s) new biosolids composting operation. The 20-acre facility, located adjacent to ECUA’s wastewater treatment plant, can compost 400 tons of biosolids per week and produce about 30,000 cubic yards of compost annually. KCI was involved in all steps of the design and startup of the facility, from initial concept to the start of operation and beyond. KCI also assisted ECUA with the design, procurement and contracting of a new 25-ton-per-hour material recovery facility (MRF).
