Waste Services of the Bluegrass LLC (WSB), Lexington, Kentucky, has acquired a regional hauling firm and commenced operations at a new transfer station in Lexington.
WSB in late July announced that it has acquired Legacy Carting, LLC, a residential waste hauler based in London, Kentucky. “As our company continues its growth, we continue to improve the way we serve all our customers, with a keen eye on making our Bluegrass community a better place to live,” says W. Todd Skaggs, WSB’s resident and CEO.
“With the acquisition of Legacy and incorporation of [its] great business and reputation into the WSB family, we can better serve our growing market in the Bluegrass region, as well as build the foundation for our continued expansion.”
The acquisition of Legacy adds 27,000 residential customers connected to a number of long-term municipal contracts, says WSB. The acquisition “broadens WSB’s footprint in the Central Kentucky region, while creating economies of scale and fostering key jobs,” the company states in its news release announcing the acquisition.
WSB also says it has begun operations of the Bluegrass Regional Transfer Station (“BGRTS”) in a public-private partnership with Lexington Fayette Urban County Government (“LFUCG”) under a long-term contract to manage LFUCG and third-party waste. Approximately 80 percent of Lexington’s residents will now have their waste handled through BGRTS, says WSB.
“We are excited to be partnering with LFUCG, and the seamless transition of BGRTS into our operations gives us a key platform allowing us to service our customers more efficiently,” says Skaggs.
WSB describes itself as a vertically integrated, Kentucky-owned solid waste services company providing collection, transfer, disposal and recycling services to commercial, industrial, municipal and residential customers.
