Kentucky Governor Ernie Fletcher announced that 26 recycling programs across the state are receiving $2.3 million in state grants to improve recycling levels in the state. The money was issued by the Environmental and Public Protection Cabinet’s Division of Waste Management.
The money comes from the Kentucky Pride Fund, which in turn is funded by a fee of $1.75 for every ton of municipal solid waste disposed of in the state’s landfills.
The grants awarded require a minimum of 25 percent local match in the form of cash or "in kind" services, materials or equipment. Click on the following link to view the grant recipients, what the money will be used for and the total grant money.
