Kamen Inc. of Wichita has acquired Alcoa Aluminum's can recycling stations throughout Kansas.
With the new facilities Kamen will be able to process up to 50 million aluminum cans each year, says Sheldon Kamen, president and CEO of Kamen Inc. With the addition of the new recycling stations the company will have facilities in place that will cover the whole state.
The company, started in 1896, is one of the oldest and largest recycling companies in the state of Kansas, according to Kamen.
"Aluminum is one of the better commodities in the recycling business," he says.
Kamen expects to have most of the operations shipping to Kamen within the next several months. The company is in the process of moving various equipment to the different sites that it has taken over.
The price for a pound of aluminum can vary from 20 cents to 70 cents a pound, depending on demand and other market conditions, Kamen saysLatest from Recycling Today
