J.P. Mascaro lands large recycling contract

Pennsylvania company says new contract will cover 52 municipalities in the state’s Chester County.

J. P. Mascaro & Sons, with corporate headquarters in Audubon, Pennsylvania, has announced that its TotalRecyle facility in Birdsboro, Pennsylvania, has been awarded a contract with Chester County, Pennsylvania. The company also handles recyclables from three other Pennsylvania counties: Montgomery, Bucks and Lehigh. (J.P. Mascaro was profiled in Recycling Today Media Group publication Waste Today in the July/August 2018 issue.)

The multiyear contract to process and market recyclables for the 52 municipalities in the county requires Mascaro's TotalRecycle facility to provide a minimum of 26 million pounds of capacity annually to Chester County municipalities. In 2017, the TotalRecycle facility received more than 160 million pounds of recyclables for processing.

In remarks following the announcement of the contract, Joseph Mascaro, the company’s director of sustainability and general manager of the TotalRecycle facility, says, "We are excited about adding Chester County communities to our growing list of recycling customers. Mascaro and TotalRecycle are committed to remaining at the forefront of waste recycling and reuse, as evidenced by our TotalRecycle facility, and we will continue to strive to improve our facility systems and product quality control, as well as our end-use recyclables markets in both the United States and abroad."
