The board of directors of Zhenjijang, China-based Jiangsu Dingsheng New Energy Materials Co. Ltd. has announced plans to invest about $44 million to build a new secondary aluminum plant in China. The plant will accept both prompt aluminum and obsolete scrap as feedstock.
Construction on the project is expected to take two years for a facility that will include four furnaces and 16 casting lines in a 27,100-square-meter (290,000-square-foot) facility. Downstream capabilities will include the production of aluminum cans and aluminum siding, according to an announcement issued by the firm (in Chinese).
Jiangsu says the investment is part of the company’s plan to “adapt to market demand” and “transform and upgrade” its industrial structure, optimize its product structure and enhance its market competitiveness.
On its website, Jiangsu Dingsheng New Energy Materials refers to itself as a producer of aluminum and aluminum alloy plate, belt and foil that benefits from the involvement of a “Chinese nonferrous metal processing industry association vice chairman.”
