Jet Polymer Recycling to Open New Plant

Jet Polymer Recycling, based in Rainsville, Ala., has leased a new facility in Fort Payne, Ala., that will allow the company to expand its operations.

 

The company’s building in Fort Payne is 350,000 square feet, while its Rainsville plant measures 50,000 square feet. The building was formerly used by Sara Lee Corp.
 

Jet Polymer, a part of the Traylor Group, started in 2006 when the Traylor Group started grinding polypropylene plastics from customers. The Traylor Group was founded in the early part 1992 as a spin-off of Waste Processing Equipment Inc. 
 

According to local reports, the company will expand and create another 60 to 75 jobs in the next two years.
 

JET Polymer sets up recycling operations in locations where parts for the automotive industry are produced. The company brings back the collected plastics to its facilities where the material is reground into pellets where it can be shipped off and reused. The company estimates that close to 95 percent of the post-industrial plastic scrap comes from the automotive industry, according to Jayse Traylor of JET Polymer.
 

The company says it expects to invest $2.5 million to upgrade the building and to install three grinding lines by June.
 

The new facility includes a rail siding on the property, 40 truck docks and several large silos where the company can hold some of the plastics.
