Helmut Peters, president of JCB Inc., has been recognized with the “Industrial Person of the Year” award by the Savannah (Georgia) Area Chamber of Commerce Manufacturers Council.
The award was presented at the 2005 Annual Manufacturers Appreciation Luncheon held May 3 at the Mighty Eighth Air Force Museum in Pooler, Ga.
Peters was recognized for his leadership of the Savannah-based JCB North American headquarters. In 2004, under Peters’ leadership, the company saw a record increase in sales of 51 percent from the previous year.
“JCB is happy to have its North American headquarters here in Savannah. We hope to pave the way for other manufacturers looking to relocate,” said Peters, who accepted the award on behalf of JCB and his team of Savannah-based employees.
JCB Inc. is the North American subsidiary of JC Bamford Excavators Ltd. JCB markets a wide variety of construction equipment, including backhoe loaders, wheel loaders, Loadall telescopic handlers, rough-terrain forklifts, skid steer loaders, hydraulic tracked excavators and articulated dump trucks.
