In a release, Fred Mondragon, Cabinet Secretary for the New Mexico Economic Development Department, has announced that the Mexican firm JBC International LLC plans to build a plastics recycling facility in the state.
“I am very pleased that JBC International has selected Chaparral (New Mexico) as the site of their new facility,” Mondragon says. “We believe that this the first step in the development of a business and logistics cluster that will benefit all of southern New Mexico.”
JBC International currently has a recycling operation in Juarez, Mexico. The company processes around 12,000 pounds of plastics per day at that site, according to the New Mexico Economic Development Department.
When operational, the new facility in Chaparral will take in a wide range of plastic scrap. The company expects to begin construction on the new plastics recycling facility by the end of 2010.
“We are excited to announce this expansion from Juarez into New Mexico,” says Carlos Gonzales, JBC’s CEO. “New Mexico has a great deal to offer, and we are proud to bring a dozen new jobs to the community.”
In addition to recycling plastic scrap, JBC International processes pallets, cardboard and metal for recycling.
