Javelin Manufacturing Acquired

Jason Miller and Scott Moore have acquired Javelin Manufacturing Inc., an equipment manufacturer based in Fort Wayne, Ind. Jim Merrick, Javelin’s co-founder, will continue with the company in a consulting capacity.

Under Javelin’s new corporate structure, Miller will serve as general manager and chief product design/improvement officer. Moore will assume the position of vice president of operations. In that capacity he will oversee service as well as parts distribution. Mark Haut will remain as the firm’s controller.

The company, founded in 2008, began by focusing on the material recovery facility (MRF) market to increase nonferrous recovery with an innovative eddy current separator. Since then, Javelin has expanded its focus, placing units into auto shredder downstream systems, electronic scrap recovery processing operations, glass clean-up applications and munitions recovery operations.

In a news release, Javelin says attaining higher recovery rates and cleaner materials is critical for recyclers in the current business climate. Javelin customers, described by the company as operators who need to get every penny out of their materials stream, can experience recovery rate increases that add significantly to their bottom line when they deploy the right equipment.

Each Javelin unit includes easy-access lubrication points, easy guard removal to clean and check the unit, a mechanical belt tensioning system and one-piece belt changes. Options include two- or three-split splitter box, vibratory feeders, controls and other options, depending upon the application.

The Javelin line of eddy current separators includes specialized UBC units as well as what Javelin calls “higher performance models suitable for capturing smaller nonferrous particles.” Those units have been placed in applications that include auto shredder residue (ASR), glass cleanup systems and electronic scrap recovery.
