Suzuka Fuji Xerox Co., a machine parts manufacturing unit of Fuji Xerox Co., has developed a new technology to recycle plastics and foam polystyrene.
The new technology allows used plastics and foam polystyrene to be reprocessed into plastics of the same strength as a new product, the officials said.
Conventional recycling methods mix 20-30 pct of used materials with 70-80 pct of new materials, making the average price of recycled products relatively high compared with new ones.
Since the new technology allows used plastics to be recycled on their own, the price of recycled products should fall to the same level as that of new products.
The technology can be applied to acrylonitrile-butadiene- styrene used in car interiors and home electronics.
Suzuka Fuji Xerox already filed for patent rights for the technology in Japan, the United States and European countries, hoping to promote it to plastics makers at home and abroad, the officials said. Jiji PressGet curated news on YOUR industry.
