Polyglass, a manufacturer of specialty roofing materials, headquartered in Treviso, Italy, announced plans to build a manufacturing facility in Winter Haven.
The facility, scheduled to begin manufacturing in 2007, will join two other plants the company presently has in the United States: one in Pennsylvania, another in Nevada.
The project is expected to cost around $10 million. While building the manufacturing plant the company presently is using the space where the plant will be opened to distribute the company’s products from its other locations, both in the United States, as well as Europe.
The decision by Polyglass to open a plant in Winter Haven follows negotiations with the company and Florida’s Governor Jeb Bush, who went to Europe late last year to seek out business opportunities in the state.
Along with the decision by Polyglass to open a plant in Florida, the state also is in discussions and research with another company, Skymax, also an Italian firm, to bring open a facility in the central Florida area.
Skymax is a processor of scrap plastics. The company in the past had worked closely with Polyglass on being a major provider of the specified scrap plastics for the manufacturing company. The company also would supply other consumers with various types of scrap plastic.
