ISRI Schedules Tour of China

September 2005 trip focuses on paper recycling.

The Institute of Scrap Recycling Industries Inc. (ISRI), Washington, has announced a September 2005 organized tour of China that will focus on paper recycling.

The tentative schedule includes meetings with U.S. embassy and consular officials, Chinese government officials, Chinese paper industry representatives, and other business leaders. Tours are planned for paper mills and port facilities, with visits to Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, and Yantian on the itinerary. The group also hopes that time will permit for some sight-seeing visits.

According to an announcement on the group’s Web site, “The study mission is open to all ISRI members, with a maximum of 20 participants. Each member company will initially be limited to two participants. Additional individuals from the same company will be wait-listed and may be added one at a time on a space-available basis.”

Although the cost of the trip has not been finalized, it will not exceed $8,000, according to ISRI. That price will include most meals and all lodging, transportation within China, hosted receptions, briefings, and tours in China, but not airfare to and from China.

Currently, ISRI is seeking a $2,000 non-refundable credit card deposit for participants to hold space on the tour. Interested parties are urged to contact Scott Horne of ISRI at (2020 662-8613 or scotthorne@isri.org; or ISRI President Robin Wiener at (202) 662-8512 or robinwiener@isri.org.
