Three college students selected from group of 15 applicants.

The Northern Ohio Chapter of the Institute of Scrap Recycling Industries Inc. (ISRI) has announced the recipients of its 2011 scholarship awards.

“We had 15 excellent candidates this year who applied, and we are proud to announce our three scholarship winners this year,” says ISRI Northern Ohio Chapter president Bill Ivancic. “ISRI members have always worked to serve their communities, and our annual scholarship awards are an important way in which we do that.”

This year’s recipients are:

•    Andrea Richard, who graduated from Muskingum University in Ohio majoring in physics and mathematics and is a repeat winner of this award. She will be attending graduate school at Ohio University in the fall. She is the daughter of David and Rebecca Richard and was sponsored by Muskingum Iron and Metal, Zanesville, Ohio.
•    Joshua Sizer, who will be a senior at Georgetown University in Washington, D.C., majoring in English while studying psychology and film. He is the son of Frank and Eileen Sizer and was sponsored by GIE Media/ Recycling Today Media Group, Richfield, Ohio.
•    Shelby Wagner, who will be a freshman at Grove City College in Pennsylvania, plans to study accounting and finance. She is the daughter of Tim and Susan Wagner and is sponsored by Gibson Machinery, Oakwood Village, Ohio.

“The Northern Ohio Chapter is proud to assist these young adults as they pursue their educations,” says scholarship chairman Matt Kripke. “The recycling industry has always thrived on the idea of remaking things. With these scholarships the ISRI community of Northern Ohio has the opportunity to assist in building something—to pay it forward if you will.”
