ISRI Introduces Speakers, Topics for Commodity Sessions at Annual Convention

Commodity sessions include ferrous, copper, aluminum, nickel and paper.

The Institute of Scrap Recycling Industries has its roster of speakers for its five commodity spotlight sessions, to be held at the 2007 ISRI Convention and Exposition, April 18-21 in New Orleans. The five commodity sessions are the following: ferrous, copper, nickel, aluminum, and paper.

The ferrous spotlight will look at how new production technologies are changing the market for various grades. Panelists include: Stuart Gray of Gerdau Ameristeel; John Harris of Mittal Steel Co.; and Matthew Parker of Metal Management Northeast. Peter Kramer of The Greenfield Recycling Co. will be the moderator.

The Copper Spotlight will examine what is driving the market for the "red metal" in 2007. Panelist include: Tim Strelitz of California Metals X; Herb Black of American Iron; and Keith Gwozdz of Man Financial. Michael Friedman of Scrap & Waste will be the moderator.

The Nickel Spotlight will discuss end-use markets and demand, price substitution and the potential supply response in the context of nickel’s record prices. Panelists include: Mo Ahmadzadeh of Mitsui Bussan Commodities; Jason Schenker of Wachovia Bank; and Vikram Kochar, Universal Metals. Alistair Gledhill of ELG Metals will be the moderator.

The Aluminum Spotlight will analyze what factors will drive this relatively balanced market in 2007. Panelists include: Nick Madden of Novelis; Catherine Virga, CPM Group; and Bruce Warshauer of Wabash Alloys. Stephen Moss of Stanton A. Moss, Inc will be the moderator.

The Paper Spotlight will consider the challenges and opportunities presented by global demand for recovered fiber in 2007. Panelists include: Mark Brantley, Smurfit-Stone Recycling Co.; and Rogelio Silva, Durango-McKinley Paper Co. George Chen of G&T Trading will be the moderator.
