The Institute of Scrap Recycling Industries Inc. (ISRI), Washington, will host its annual Commodities Roundtable Forum, Sept. 15-17, 2014, in Chicago. The event will provide a comprehensive view of what is happening across a wide range of recycled commodities, including ferrous and nonferrous metals, recovered paper and plastics, and key trends impacting the $80 billion scrap recycling industry, the organization says.
ISRI adds that the three-day event also serves as an opportunity to network with industry leaders.
This year’s Commodities Roundtable will feature a discussion on manufacturing and the global economy, highlighting areas of growth and what it means for the economy and global scrap commodity markets going forward.
“Given the global nature of today’s scrap recycling industry, market participants need to know what is happening, not only here at home but in markets around the world,” says Joe Pickard, ISRI chief economist. “Uneven economic growth in the United States is currently being compounded by growing uncertainty overseas. This year’s Roundtable Forum will give participants the invaluable chance to be part of the conversation that will cover not only the challenges faced by the scrap industry but also what new opportunities are on the horizon.”
