The Institute of Scrap Recycling Industries will present a three-part workshop on conducting business with China on April 12. The program, called Trading Scrap Metal and Recovered Fiber with China, will focus on trade opportunities emerging in China, how companies can gain access to business in the country, and challenges they may face in the process.
The first par of the program will be an overview of markets. Analysts from the U.S. Department of Commerce will discuss the latest information on market trends, export data, and whether Chinese demand will be a long-term market force or a short-term bubble.
The second part of the workshop will be a discussion on opportunities for trading in China. Companies currently doing business in China will share their experiences and insights and answer questions.
Speakers scheduled to discuss their experiences include representatives from Sigma Group, the China Nonferrous Metal Recycling Association, Newell Recycling, and Utah Meal Works.
The third part of the workshop will be a recycler roundtable discussion. The final section will look at what ISRI’s role should be in helping members deal with the Chinese market.
For additional information on the conference go to isri.org, or call (202) 737-1770.
