The Northern Ohio Chapter of the Washington-based Institute of Scrap Recycling Industries (ISRI) hosted its second annual Best, Young and Brightest (BYAB) networking event in Cleveland July 25-27 at the Aloft Cleveland Downtown. The event is geared toward young professionals in the scrap recycling industry throughout North America.
Mary Hlepas, regional vice president of purchasing for Imperial Aluminum, who is based in Minerva, Ohio, serves as vice president of the ISRI Northern Ohio Chapter. She says she hopes the event, which combines networking and leadership training, is an experience attendees will reflect on for the rest of their careers.
The event featured presentations from Marvin Montgomery, who provides sales and leadership training, as well as from Danielle Waterfield, ISRI senior director of government relations and assistant general counsel; Brian Henesey, vice president and general manager of Rocky Mountain Recycling Inc. (RMR), Commerce City, Colorado, and vice chairman of ISRI; Jim Keefe, publisher of the Recycling Today Media Group, Valley View, Ohio; and Tim Wilson, nonferrous trading manager at Triple M Metal LP, who is based in Chagrin Falls, Ohio, and also serves as president of Northern Ohio Chapter of ISRI. CultureShoc, Westlake, Ohio, lead team-building exercises during BYAB.
BYAB sponsors were Benlee, Romulus, Michigan; Kripke Enterprises, Toledo, Ohio; Recycling Today Media Group; and Sierra International Machinery, Bakersfield, California.
