ISRI Awards $75,000 in Recycling Scholarships

ISRI's Recycling Research Foundation names scholarship winners.

Sixty-three students will split $75,000 in academic scholarships from the Institute of Scrap Recycling Industries’ Recycling Research Foundation (RRF), the association has announced.

ISRI describes the Recycling Research Foundation as “a 501(c)(3) non-profit whose mission is to promote the art and science of scrap processing and recycling through research, technical assistance and educational programs for the purpose of advancing the industry.”

ISRI President Roben Wiener says, “The Recycling Research Foundation is proud to honor these students and contribute to the pursuit of their academic goals. These scholarships reflect the hard work and excellence each recipient has achieved.”

The association awards RRF scholarships to dependents of ISRI member-company employees who are pursing undergraduate or graduate education.

ISRI regional and national chapters administer the RRF Scholarship Program.  The chapters solicit applications and raise funds, which are distributed through RRF headquarters in Washington, DC.  The chapter scholarship committees select recipients based upon chapter criteria, including prior academic performance, letters of recommendation from teachers and other leaders and personal statements from each applicant.
