The Institute of Scrap Recycling Industries (ISRI), Washington, has opened the entry period for the 2016 Transportation Safety Awards, sponsored by the RecycleGuard Insurance Program. The program, now in its fourth year, includes four categories—Best Fleet, Pacesetter, Driver of the Year and the ISRI Golden Wrench—recognizing outstanding safety records.
“ISRI Transportation Safety Awards reflect the value and importance that the industry places on vehicle safety,” says Commodor Hall, ISRI transportation safety director. “By recognizing the top performers in the field, both at individual and company levels, we are raising the bar for the entire industry.”
Best Fleet awards will be presented to ISRI members with the lowest vehicle accident rate and the lowest DOT (Department of Transportation) severity rate for the 2015 calendar year in each of four classes, determined by size.
Pacesetter awards will be granted to ISRI members with the best 36-month accident record in each of four classes, determined by size.
The Driver of the Year Award will be awarded to the commercial vehicle driver with the best 20-year driving record, with the minimum qualification being no at-fault accidents during the driver’s entire career. The winner will receive $500, a trophy, a leather jacket and a trip to 2016 ISRI Convention & Exposition in Las Vegas.
The ISRI Golden Wrench Award will be given to the best heavy vehicle maintenance technician or manager who exhibits outstanding efforts, achievements and contributions to ensure that commercial vehicles are safe on the road. The winner will receive a trophy and a trip to the 2016 convention.
Entry forms and additional information can be found online. All entries are due by Feb. 29, 2016. The awards will be presented during ISRI’s Annual Convention & Exposition, April 2-7, 2016.
