IScrap App Prepares for Charity Run

Two employees of iScrap App, Rockaway, N.J., will be competing in the first New Jersey version of the St. Jude Children's Research Hospital Warrior Dash fundraiser.

 

The event will take place on Saturday, July 14, 2012, in Morristown, N.J. Tom Buechel, creator of the iScrap App and his sister Virginia (also an iScrap App employee) will be running their first ever Warrior Dash, with the goal of raising funds to help save children’s lives.

 

The Warrior Dash is a five-kilometer (5 k) run through obstacles, woods “and more challenges, like crawling through mud, along the way,” says Virginia Buechel.

 

St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital is a partner of all the Warrior Dash contests across the country. Competitors have the option to sign up to be a St. Jude Warrior and raise money for the charity.

 

Both Tom and Virginia have been raising funds the past few months for St. Jude Children's Research Hospital and together have totaled more than $1,000 for the event.

 

The Buechels have helped raise thousands of dollars for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital in the past few years through previous efforts. 

 

During the Institute of Scrap Recycling Industries Inc. (ISRI) annual conventions in both 2011 and 2012, iScrap App has hosted its annual iScrap4Kids event. Proceeds raised from the silent auction have gone toward St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.

The Buechels describe iScrap App as a mobile app for the iPhone and Android that connects scrap yards with their customers. Scrap recyclers can locate scrap yards, find pricing, see the materials they buy, send pictures of material for questions and request containers from their smart phones.
