ISA Reports Increased Profits

Firm increases profits despite lapsing of major service contract with Home Depot.

Industrial Services of America Inc. (ISA), Louisville, Ky., has reported increased net income in the first half of 2006 compared to 2005 despite the termination of a service contract with long-time customer Home Depot.

According to a news release from the company, ISA earned a net income of slightly more than $1 million in the first half of 2006, compared to net income of $360,000 in the first half of 2005.

The increased profits were recorded despite the fact that the company’s revenue figure for the first half of 2006 was just $32 million, compared to $63 million in the first half of 2005.

“Our ISA Recycling segment continues to flourish as segment revenues increased 90 percent for the current quarter compared to the [same] quarter of 2005,” the company’s release notes. “Operating levels and shipments were up significantly for the quarter and the six months of 2006 compared to last year in our ferrous and nonferrous processing facilities,” the company’s release states.

While the company’s recycling revenue is up, its revenue from waste services has fallen from $25.5 million in the first half of 2005 to just $3.8 million in the first half of this year.

The company previously disclosed that Home Depot had allowed its service contract with ISA to expire on Oct. 30, 2005.
