Kosmos Glass Recycling Ltd., Belfast, Northern Ireland, has seen interest grow in its recycled glass products and applications following a recent tour of its facilities by around 100 visitors.
The Waste & Resources Action Programme held its annual Northern Ireland open meeting near to Kosmos Glass Recycling in Belfast’s Titanic Quarter and afterwards invited delegates to join WRAP chief executive and staff on a special tour of the new recycling plant.
Visitors saw diverse demonstrations of recycled glass being used to grit blast the rust off an old ship’s anchor; how paint containing recycled glass is used for road surface markings, and how recycled glass can replace sand in golf bunkers.
Robert Mathers, managing director at Kosmos Glass Recycling, said: “There have been quite exciting developments here since the visit. We’ve had a number of companies contact us because of our environmental credentials and requested materials for trials. The future is looking promising and we’re confident we will receive orders as a result of the WRAP event.
