Invista, a Wichita, Kansas-based manufacturer of chemical intermediates, polymers and fibers for the nylon and polypropylene (PP) value chains, recently announced plans to expand its International Sustainability and Carbon Certification (ISCC) Plus certification program.
Two Invista sites located in Victoria, Texas, and Kingston, Ontario, will pursue ISCC Plus recertification of their processes following initial certifications in 2024. The site in Victoria will seek recertification of its bio, circular, biocircular and renewable adipic acid and hexamethylene diamine (HMD) products, while the Kingston site will seek recertification of its nylon 66 polymers and fibers.

Additionally, Invista's nylon 66 plant in Rozenburg, Netherlands, and its nylon 66 facility at the Shanghai Chemical Industry Park in China will seek their first ISCC Plus certifications for polymers. Once the certifications are obtained, the company claims it will be the first fully integrated supplier capable of producing ISCC Plus-certified nylon 66 polymers in North America, Europe and Asia to support global customers.
“Achieving this success in just one year was a tremendous effort by many dedicated people within Invista and with our customers,” says Ethel Garnier, Invista’s global sustainability director for nylon. “This lates announcement marks another milestone for Invista as we work towards making alternative nylon chemicals and polymers more available. Developing such offerings demonstrates our continued dedication to delivering meaningful solutions for our customers globally.”
ISCC Plus is a global certification system that uses fully independent, external audits to verify the sourcing and traceability of biomass and circular products applying a mass-balance approach. It validates consistency with environmental, social and governance criteria throughout the supply chain, and the certification provides assurance to consumers and stakeholders regarding the production practices and use of resources.
