Interseroh Plastics R&D d.o.o., the Slovenia-based subsidiary of Cologne, Germany-based Interseroh, has been nominated for a 2018 European Business Award for the Environment (EBAE). The company has been nominated for its Recycled-Resource plastics recycling process.
The Recycled-Resource production process is based on recompounding activity that includes the automated sorting of various materials followed by grinding, cleaning and washing the plastic according to predefined quality parameters. The material is then extruded and restabilized, as well as chemical modification with additives to obtain the exact characteristics customers require.
The recycled-content “recipes” are developed by Interseroh to upgrade materials derived from plastic scrap.
“Our nomination for this important European award recognizes our long-standing research and development workand is a great honor to us,” says Dr. Manica Ulcnik-Krump, managing director of Interseroh Plastics R&D d.o.o. and leader of the Business Unit for Recycled-Resource at Interseroh.
“The key benefits [that] Recycled-Resource offers for the environment are plain to see: In this way we are able to achieve a clear reduction in greenhouse gas emissions, conserve dwindling natural resources, and achieve a far better level of energy efficiency compared with the manufacturing of primary products,” she adds.
The European Business Awards for the Environment are organized and presented by the European Commission of the European Union.
