Interseroh Dienstleistungs GmbH, a subsidiary of Germany-based ALBA Group, presented information on its new packaging optimization service “Made for Recycling” to an audience of packaging developers at a “Packaging Day” event held June 7, 2017.
The service was presented to what Interseroh calls packaging designers “from renowned brand manufacturers” during a guided tour through its Berlin-Mahlsdorf sorting plant for lightweight packaging and other recyclables. The company says the plant tour helped the guests “get a picture on site of how important it is to integrate recyclability into a product’s development process.”
The tour was part of the third “Packaging Day” event organized by the Deutsche Verpackungsinstitut e.V. (DVI, or German Packaging Institute).
As part of its new “Made for Recycling” service, Interseroh says it analyzes the life cycle of packaging from production to disposal, recycling and reuse together with the customer. The aim is to sustainably improve the recyclability of packaging.
“Packaging recycling starts with product development,” says Markus Müller-Drexel, CEO of Interseroh. “In times of an increasing shortage in raw materials, as well as the growing importance of eco-design and compulsory recycling labels, product manufacturers have no choice but to confront this issue. This is where our ‘Made for Recycling’ service comes in. We help combine product and design requirements with recyclability. Only if packaging developers and the recycling industry work together can we recycle more and protect primary resources,” he adds.
