InterfaceFLOR, a manufacturer of carpet tiles, is the first U.S. company to win the German Sustainability Award. Lindsey Parnell, president and CEO EMEAI, received the award for “Germany’s most sustainable recycling” in person. The award is given to companies that consistently and extensively implement the principles of sustainability throughout their business to a high standard.
The company was recognized for its ReEntry program, whereby used tiles are taken back and recycled. The program has a recycling rate of 35 percent for the yarns and up to 74 percent for the carpet backings.
Other steps the company has taken includes reducing its greenhouse gas emissions by 67 percent over the past 14 years.
