The state of Indiana has made available $500,000 in grant funds through its Recycling Market Development Program (RMDP) to assist recycling businesses and economic development in the state. Recycling businesses can apply for the grants through Sep. 26, 2011, to help purchase equipment for manufacturing recycled materials into new products.
"Recycling involves finding uses for existing materials and developing consumer markets for recycled-content products. Providing financial assistance to recycling businesses makes good sense for the environment and the economy," says Thomas Easterly, commissioner of the Indiana Department of Environmental Management.
Grants will range from $50,000 to $200,000, with a required 50 percent match from the recipient. Businesses that have current RMDP projects will not be eligible to apply for this round of grants. The RMDP will make final funding determinations of eligible projects by the end of the 2011.
