Massachusetts scrap processor and trader Milton “Mickey” Solomon died in March at the age of 85.
Solomon was a long-time executive at Solomon Metals Corp., a family scrap business based in Lynn, Mass., where his son Steven now serves as president and treasurer.
Mickey Solomon was born and raised in Chelsea, Mass., and began working full time at Solomon Metals Corp. upon graduation from Chelsea High School in 1945. He continued to serve as a company director until his death in 2012.
Throughout his career he served within industry trade groups as well as for regional nonprofit organizations, such as the Chelsea Jewish Nursing Home, Camp Bauercrest in Amesbury, Mass., and Temple Tifereth Israel in Winthrop, Mass.
He is survived by his wife Irene, sons Steven and Alan, daughters Marcy and Laurie and eight grandchildren.
