G. Robert Eichmeyer, former CEO of Empire Engines and Weissman Industries in Waterloo, Iowa, has died at the age of 85.
Eichmeyer held titles as a vice president and then CEO with combined auto dismantling-scrap processing companies Empire Engines and Weissman Industries (also known as Weissman Iron & Metal) from 1963 until his retirement in 1982.
The Weissman scrap processing facility in Waterloo was subsequently purchased by Recycling Industries Inc. in the 1990s and then St. Louis-based Alter Trading in 2001.
Eichmeyer is survived by his wife Darlyne, two sons, one daughter, 11 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
