Impact Air Systems, an England-based supplier of air conveyance and separation technology, has launched its ZAC400, the newest addition to its Zigzag Air Classifier (ZAC) range.
This model joins the company’s ZAC800 and heavy-duty ZAC1200, creating a family of dry-separation systems.
Impact Air Systems says its ZAC400 was engineered in response to growing demand for high-efficiency separation in tighter plant footprints. The ZAC400 delivers the performance of the ZAC range in a plug and play format. Using precision zig-zag airflow to separate light and heavy materials, the company says it enables operators to achieve cleaner recyclates, lower disposal costs and greater recovery efficiency.
The company says the advantages of its compact ZAC400 include higher value recyclates through cleaner output, reduced disposal volumes and costs, quick integration with minimal downtime, low energy use and a fast return on investment.
Impact Air Systems says its ZAC models are built from high-grade, wear-resistant materials, ensuring long-term durability in harsh, abrasive waste streams. The models' construction makes them effective in glass processing environments, where traditional systems can suffer from excessive wear and costly downtime.
The ZAC range delivers consistent performance with reduced maintenance demands by eliminating common wear points and optimizing airflow paths, the company says.
The ZAC400 demonstrated its capabilities in a full-scale production environment at ENVA’s Nottingham material recovery facility (MRF).
“The ZAC 400 has been a solid upgrade for our Nottingham site,” says Paul Needham, ENVA strategic development director. “It’s much more efficient than the system we had before, with less downtime and better recovery of fiber and glass. The install was straightforward, and the support from Impact has been spot on.”
Impact Air Systems says this installation delivered cleaner outputs, reduced maintenance time and improved overall process reliability, showcasing the ZAC400’s value as an operational upgrade for modern MRFs.
Impact Air Systems operates a dedicated demonstration and testing facility, which allows customers to trial ZAC systems using their own waste materials. The company says this approach gives operators the confidence to validate performance, compare outputs and select the ideal configuration for their processes.
