The Illinois Secretary of State has issued nine misdemeanor citations to Alton Materials, an auto recycling operations located in Alton, Ill. The citations follow an inspection of the company conducted by the Illinois Secretary of State Police earlier this year.
Henry Haupt, a spokesman for the Illinois Secretary of State, says the main problem found with Alton Materials was the company was operating the auto recycling facility with an expired operating license. The case is being sent to the Madison County Circuit Court.
According to Haupt, the company had neglected to renew its annual license. Most of the rest of the misdemeanors surrounded the company’s failure to maintain proper documentation and inventory of the automobiles and auto parts on hand. Other citations included six counts of failure to maintain documenting evidence of right of ownership.
When notified of the misdemeanors, the company applied for a renewal of the license, according to Haupt.
Haupt says that the company is cooperating with the state agency, and the Secretary of State is recommending the company receive the license.
