The 11th International Electronics Recycling Congress (IERC) was held in January 2012 in Salzburg, Austria.

According to IERC, about 500 experts and decision makers from all over the world had travelled to Austria to discuss current issues of waste electrical and electronic equipment (WEEE) recycling.

Each year, the IERC offers plant tours to recycling companies in Austria and Germany. This year the destination of one of these tours was in Schönberg, Bavaria, where the IERC participants visited S+S Separation and Sorting Technology GmbH.

S+S is a manufacturer of sorting systems that also are used for WEEE recycling. For S+S, the plant tour was an opportunity to present the company to about 40 visitors.

Franz Schaab of S+S says, “It was a great pleasure for us to welcome 40 congress participants here at S+S. Our guests were especially interested in our VARISORT sorting systems, which are ideal for e-scrap sorting applications because due to the possibility of combining various sensor types, these systems provide outstanding flexibility.”
