The ISEE/IAER joint conference is comprised of two major components: the ISEE Symposium May 10-12 and IAER Electronics Recycling Summit May 10, 12 and 13.
The ISEE symposium focuses on research findings and technology advancement. Internationally renowned original manufacturers, academia, electronics recyclers, public policy makers and consultants will present technical papers on a variety of topics, including designing for the environment, electronics recycling, reverse logistics and environmental policies.
The IAER Summit focuses on providing an effective platform to discuss the practical issues confronting the electronics recycling industry. “The Summit facilitates collaboration and dialogue among all the stakeholders involved in electronics recycling on the critical issues that all are facing today, whether they are recyclers, OEMs, trade associations, governmental institutions or researchers,” according to a press release issued by the IAER.
"The goal of this year's IAER Summit program design is to provide the highest Take Home Value for all attendees," 2004 Summit Chair Jade Lee says. Lee is executive vice president of Supply-Chain Services Inc. (SSI), Lombard, Ill.
"We are excited about the rich program that the IAER Summit is to offer to the conference participants. It will be a compelling forum for valuable information exchange, networking and electronics recycling business enhancement,” IAER President Peter Muscanelli says.
The theme for the summit is "After Transformation - Let's Soar!" The theme explores how recyclers have responded to the fundamental changes to the industry resulting from domestic and international economic, environmental and legislative developments. These questions will be addressed in moderated sessions to be held during the Summit. Additionally, facility tours to Arizona-based electronics recyclers' plants will be offered.
New to the summit this year are educational sessions to be held May 10. The IAER's affiliated educational organization the International Electronics Recyclers Institute (IERI) will feature two courses designed to enhance the technical and managerial skills of recyclers, governmental institutions and other related organizations.
