According to a news release issued this June by the Bureau of International Recycling (BIR), Brussels, the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), also based in Brussels, has launched its e-learning “Control of Radioactive Material Inadvertently Incorporated into Scrap Metal.”

The new tool for European Union member states and metal recycling industries is now available on the IAEA’s self-directed Learning Management System on the CLP4NET platform at https://elearning.iaea.org/m2/course/index.php?categoryid=135.

IAEA’s video details who the e-learning is addressed to, how to enroll and what the e-learning covers.

The e-learning complements the Scrap Metal Tool Kit, launched simultaneously and available at the IAEA GNSSN CSN site, https://gnssn.iaea.org/CSN/Scrap/SitePages/Home.aspx.

Later in 2020, the BIR will host a virtual meeting of metal recycling company personnel responsible for the control of radioactive material inadvertently incorporated into scrap metal. Those interested in joining should contact BIR Trade & Environment Director Ross Bartley.
