Hustler Conveyor Co. announced the completion and startup of a new single stream system in St. Helena, Calif. This system is processing 10 tons per hour of fiber and commingled containers.

By working closely with Upper Valley Disposal, the company purchasing the system, as well as Hustler’s local distributor, Western Baler & Conveyor, Hustler designed and engineered the entire project. The equipment includes 12 conveyors including Roller Chain, Flat Sliders and Idlers along with 4 screens which include a “Newsorter”, 2 Debris Screens and a Polishing Screen.
Also included are container storage bunkers with an air system, PLC controls, a hydraulic “Load Leveler” along with structural supports and platforms. An existing sort line was also incorporated into the system.
According to Robert Pestoni, president of Upper Valley Disposal Service, the system will allow for more efficient processing of recyclables and for greater diversion in materials from the local landfill. “The quality of the materials produced is great. The paper is very clean. We’ve had no problem meeting market specifications.”
Chuck Post, general manager for Upper Valley, was responsible for overseeing the installation of the new processing equipment and the operation of the plant. “Working with Hustler and Western Baler was a breeze. The installation went very smoothly. We are pleased to be processing more tons per day than we anticipated. I would highly recommend these guys,” Post said.
