HSM Opens New Visitors’ and Training Center

The new space is decorated with recycled materials.

After four months of renovations, HSM GmbH + Co. KG, Frickingen,Germany, has opened a new visitors’ and training center, which includes a 500-square-foot exhibition space.

Existing rooms at the Frickingen site were completely redesigned, and the exhibition area was created for products from the company's Office and Environmental Technology business units. The entire range of shredders, presses and cutting machines will be on display, according to HSM GmbH + Co. KG. Partners, customers and employees will undergo training sessions and also can demonstrate machines.

Irene Dengler, HSM managing director, says, “HSM takes pride in giving its products functionality and aesthetic appeal. We advertise the HSM SECURIO document shredder range with the assertion that ‘Security is beautiful’. This is why we wanted to design an elegant and stimulating space. Perhaps not quite typical for an engineering company, but at HSM it is part of our company philosophy.”

Silvia Heger, who creates artwork using materials that HSM customers process, designed the space.

“In my work, paper, light and the relationship between object and space play a major role,” Heger says. “The design of the new showroom is an interplay between art and industry. For my work, I use paper strips from the document shredders as the basic material. They are used to form a set of paper structures and balls for the office technology presentation. For environmental technology, I used organically formed shapes made of cardboard. The basic material is slitted cardboard from the ProfiPack cardboard perforator—a symbiosis between technical and creative.”
