HSM to Showcase Three Products at IFAT Entsorga

New automatic channel baling press, PET baler and vertical baling press will be promoted at the Munich trade show.

HSM GmbH + Co. KG, based in Frickingen, Germany, will present three new products for the disposal industry at the IFAT Entsorga show in Munich, to be held 7-11 May, 2012. The manufacturer will present its new products in Hall C1, stand 329/428 at IFAT Entsorga 2012 in Munich, a trade fair for water, sewage, refuse and raw materials management industry.

The company will promote its HSM VK 8818 R, an automatic channel baling press designed as an energy-saving drive concept suitable for professional disposal management or for large industrial applications, such as the processing industry, disposal companies, PET bottles disposal, department stores, document shredding services as well as printing and paper industries.

The VK 8818 R has a pressing force of 100 kilonewtons and a large filling hatch of HSM VK 818 R baling press about 990 x 1800 millimeters, making the baling press suitable for a wide variety of materials such as cardboard, paper and foils, HSM says. According to the manufacturer, the press can easily handle bulky material, DSD products, sorted waste material and substitute fuels. Depending on the material, the bales reach a weight of up to 750 kilograms, a length of 1200 millimeters, a bale size of about 1100 x 750 x 600 millimeters and are held together by fully automatic five-fold wire strapping. The bale dimensions and bale weights are designed for efficient truck loading, the company says.

The frequency-controlled drive concept is available as an option, which makes it possible to use less drive power for the same throughput and press stroke cycle times, the company says. This innovation is designed to increase energy efficiency, saving about 40 percent power consumption, compared to a standard drive, HSM says.

The company is also presenting its PET CP 4988 crusher press combination, designed to be an efficient system for PET recycling that reduces the volume of empty PET bottles by as much as 90 percent in one cycle and produce PET CP 4988 crusher compact raw material bales. A dosing shaft ensures that the bottles are drawn in securely and achieves a throughput capacity of up to 4000 1-litre bottles per hour, the company says. Loading can be done manually or automatically. The drainage system discharges all the residual fluid before pressing. In the downstream baling press, featuring a pressing power of 11 tonnes, the crushed bottles are compressed into raw material bales and strapped three times, with a weight of up to 100 kilograms. A scraper system reliably removes the compressed bottles from the crusher rollers which are made of specially hardened and ground steel, the company says.

HSM will also present its latest addition to the vertical baling press product range, the V-Press 504, which features a compact and robust design, low space requirements and easy installation. The entry-level model is designed to offer cost-effective disposal of packaging waste such as cardboard and foil. With a pressing force of 40 kilonewtons, up to six bales an hour can be compressed with a maximum weight of 50 kilograms, depending on material, the company says. According to HSM, the product’s Torsion Control System allows the angle of the press ram to be continuously monitored in all directions, preventing one-sided loads and optimising the pressing procedure.

Pühler-HSM GmbH + Co. KG (formerly Pühler GmbH), a manufacturer of stainless steel recycling presses, will share HSM’s exhibition stand. A drainage press will be presented that compresses full, disposable packaging such as Tetrapack, yogurt pots and PET bottles, and separates the packaging from the contents. The Pühler-HSM product range also includes label presses and ice unpackaging machines.
