HP, EIA Speakers on E-Scrap 2004 Schedule

Corporate electronics makers will be represented at podium.

The organizers of the E-Scrap 2004 Conference have announced the addition of two speakers to the schedule, both from the electronics manufacturing sector.

Dave McCurdy, president of the Electronic Industries Alliance EIA, Washington, will provide an assessment of current issues and future trends in electronics waste management. EIA is an alliance of trade associations representing several major sectors of the electronics industry. Prior to joining EIA six years ago, McCurdy served in the U.S. House of Representatives for 14 years. McCurdy’s presentation replaces one formerly scheduled by Michael Petricone of the Consumer Electronics Association, who had a scheduling conflict.

The conference will also include a presentation on the results of one of the nation’s largest e-scrap collection programs involving a retailer. Renee St. Denis, the director of recycling for Hewlett-Packard, Roseville, Calif., will provide data and findings from a summer-long collection campaign that took place at nearly 900 Office Depot stores nationwide. This presentation replaces one formerly scheduled that detailed a recovery program launched by office supply retailer Staples.
