How2Recycle, a project of the Charlottesville, Virginia-based environmental nonprofit GreenBlue, has appointed Emily Williams as its director.
How2Recycle is a program that was created to communicate recycling instructions to the public. The program offers labels that provide clear, concise and consistent instructions for recycling.
“Emily brings deep industry expertise and a strong understanding of how labeling connects packaging design, policy and consumer behavior,” says GreenBlue Executive Director Paul Nowak. “At a time when clear, consistent disposal guidance is more important than ever, Emily will help How2Recycle members meet this moment.”
Williams brings more than a decade of sustainable packaging industry experience, spanning product development engineering, strategic marketing, partnerships, policy and product recyclability to the role.
She has held leadership roles across the packaging policy and recycling landscapes, including serving on the board of the American Institute for Packaging and the Environment (Ameripen), chairing the government affairs committee for the Flexible Packaging Association and participating in the communications and public affairs committee for the Association of Plastic Recyclers. Prior to joining How2Recycle, Williams served as a sustainability and innovation partnerships leader for TC Transcontinental.
She succeeds former How2Recycle Director Karen Hagerman, who the GreenBlue team thanks for her role in advancing accurate labeling and transparency across the industry.
