Honeywell Awards Contract to Dell

Companies sign three-year, multimillion-dollar managed-services contract.

Dell, based in Round Rock, Texas, has been awarded a three-year, multimillion dollar contract by Honeywell to provide managed services throughout its Information Technology (IT) network in the United States.

Last year Dell won a contract for a similar project for Honeywell operations in 16 European countries. This new agreement covers 57,000 systems across all Honeywell divisions in the United States. Multiple Honeywell sites are currently transitioning to Dell.

Honeywell will use Dell's Managed Services to provide its service desk capability for support questions around operating systems and more common software applications. Dell will also provide Custom Factory Integration (CFI) services that integrate custom software and images in the factory, as well as desk-side support with moving, adding and changing users in the customer client environment.

Honeywell is leasing Dell hardware through Dell Financial Services (DFS). In addition, Dell will provide Asset Recovery Services (ARS), which manage the recovery, disposal and return of leased systems at the end of their lifecycle. ARS typically includes the removal and refurbishing or recycling of old computer equipment. The agreement also includes security support through virus and management administration.

"Teaming with Honeywell in the United States is a great extension of our partnership in Europe," Gary Cotshott, vice president of Dell's services business, says. "Customers who buy our managed and professional offerings are receiving high quality services and realizing the full economic value of their Dell relationship."
