Home Improvement retailer Home Depot, Atlanta, and the Rechargeable Battery Recycling Corp., have formed a partnership to integrate RBRC’s recycling program into Home Depot retail stores.
“The Home Depot Power Tool Rechargeable Battery Recycling Program” will accept all used portable rechargeable batteries. The program will accept Nickel Cadmium (Ni-Cd) and Nickel Metal Hydride (Ni-MH) batteries, as well as Lithium Ion (Li-ion_ and Small Sealed Lead (Pb) batteries.
“Integrating RBRC’s battery recycling program into Home Depot is a big win for the entire rechargeable battery industry,” says Ralph Millard, executive vice president of RBRC. “We can think of no better success story than partnering with the leading home improvement retailer to reach our target audience-anyone who uses portable products.”
The batteries will be collected through recycling collection boxes installed with help from DeWALT Industrial Tools, Baltimore. DeWALT will also help in training Home Depot employees and monitoring the collection boxes.
Others power tool manufacturers supporting the program include Black&Decker, Bosch, Makita, Milwaukee, Porter Cable, Ryobi and Skil.
