H. Hirschfield announced that it has sold its steel service center in Bay City, Mich., to Alro Steel Corp., Jackson, Mich. The deal follows Hirschfield’s recent announcement to sell its scrap facility in Bay City to OmniSource last month.
The Hirschfield Steel Service Center supplies new steel, stainless steel and aluminum to customers throughout the area.
The steel service center began more than 30 years ago.
Alvin L. Glick, Alro's chairman and chief executive, said the company is planning on adding bronze, brass, copper and cast iron to the lineup of products, as well as additional carbon and stainless steel products, tool steel, plastics and industrial supplies.
