Herbold Combines Shredder, Granulator in One Product

Machine combines a feed hopper and hydraulic ram with a granulator.

The German company Herbold has expanded its HB Series of shredders. According to the company, the new product provides users the opportunity to produce small granule sizes using a shredder.

The Herbold HB granulator is a combination feed hopper and a hydraulic ram with a granulator. Because of the design of the grinding chamber and its high cutting frequency, it is possible to transform a number of materials into finished products in a single step, according to the company.
Bulk hollow bodies can be processed with this machine economically, Herbold says in a press release. The machine is designed to accept an intermittent feeding of large quantities of material without dosed feeding or the risk of material jamming in the grinding chamber. Once the hopper has been filled, operators are not necessary, enabling semi-automatic operation.
The main advantage of the development is its space-saving design, according to Herbold, but it also offers reduced maintenance costs and lower energy use than a two-machine set-up. Additionally, one size-reduction step makes cleaning and color and material changes easier, according to the company.
Different rotor types are available for the HB series. If requested, the granulator can be delivered as a turnkey package solution with the necessary ancillary equipment and a big bag filling station or an automatic lifting/tilting device for feeding.
