Hans Hendrick of Hendrick’s Salvage, based in Upstate New York, has announced that his company has acquired the E-Waste Recyclers of Herkimer, N.Y., enabling the company to expand into electronics recycling.
Hendrick’s Salvage, a 14-year-old scrap metal recycler, primarily serves Utica and Albany, N.Y., providing ferrous and nonferrous recycling services. Hendrick and his business partner Ernie Chancher own the company, which employs three laborers and processes 100 to 250 tons of ferrous per month as well as 40,000 pounds of stainless steel and up to 26,000 pounds of aluminum wheels in addition to lead-acid batteries.
E-Waste Recyclers has been in business for seven years. Former owner Ed Taylor will remain with the company as general manager. E-Waste Recyclers currently employs four people, though the company will add two employees when it relocates to its new facility later this year, Hendricks says. The company has purchased a new site where it intends to add to its downstream processing capabilities, he adds.
Hendrick says the acquisition appealed to him and Chancher because electronics recycling is a growing area and it gives the partners and opportunity to diversify their business.
